The new app complements the MyFord Mobile platform for smartphones, which has been available for Android and Apple smartphones since 2012. The application can be used by owners of Ford electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles like Ford C-MAX Energi, Ford Focus Electric and Ford Fusion Energi.

The smartwatch application has various uses. It can be used to check the charge status of the vehicle’s battery, initiate preconditioning of the vehicle cabin remotely, lock or unlock the vehicle, access a summary of the vehicle mileage, and get directions to the parked car. The app is helpful for those who want to obtain a summary of the last trip made by the car, including personal driving score and percentage of electric vehicle miles. Moreover, it will notify owners when a vehicle is fully charged so that they can remove it from the charging station.

Additionally, the main app displays information about nearby charging stations on Google Maps. The smartwatch application has been specifically developed for the displays of smartwatches like the Moto 360 and Apple Watch.
