"Jay Leno's Garage" Renewed for Season 2 by CNBC

The former “Tonight Show” host’s automotive show “Jay Leno’s Garage” has been renewed for Season 2 on CNBC, the cabler announced Thursday. The second reason will return in Spring 2016 with 12 new hourlong episodes.

According to CNBC, “Jay Leno’s Garage” ranks as the most-watched freshman season in the network’s history, and has helped position the net to deliver its eighth consecutive quarter of year-over-year ratings growth in primetime. According to Nielsen, its first season averaged 598,000 same-day total viewers on Wednesdays this fall , including 567,000 for its finale last night.

Hosted by Leno, the unscripted series covers all automotive things, including classic cars, super cars, road tests, investments and the inner workings of the car collectors’ market.

“We are really excited to be picked up for another season. We have a lot of great things planned. It will be a wild ride,” said Leno.

“Every week viewers get the opportunity to ride along with the ultimate car enthusiast,” said Jim Ackerman, exec vice president of primetime alternative for CNBC.  “Jay Leno’s passion for cars and unique storytelling resonates with viewers and we are excited to hit the road again this spring.”

“Our passion of making the best reality TV matches Jay’s passion to share his love for all things automotive,” added exec producer Philip D. Segal, the CEO of FremantleMedia’s Original Productions, which produces the series with Kitten Kaboodle. Segal, Leno and Ackerman exec produce with Jeff Bumgarner and Adam Barry.
