Fall oil changes will fuel the band and music programs at North Platte’s Catholic Schools.
From Nov. 14 through Nov. 25, Mobil 1 Lube Express/Modern Tire Pros at 1402 S. Jeffers will donate $30 from every oil change to the North Platte Catholic Schools Endowment-Trust.
This is the seventh consecutive year that store owners Gary and Judy Jones have had an oil change fundraiser in support of local education. During that time the North Platte Catholic Schools have received nearly $19,000 from Modern Tire Pros for projects like a science lab renovation, continuing education for teachers, and various school improvements.
Proceeds generated from the 10-day event will be used by NPCS to purchase new instruments and supplies for the K-12 band and music programs. North Platte Catholic Schools Endowment Director Wendy Dodson says that very rarely are there funds available in the regular school budget to support instrument purchases. St. Patrick’s band instructor Jennifer Winder adds that, “This event will be a wonderful way to be able to purchase a new electric keyboard and other music supplies that are desperately needed.”
The event runs from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Monday-Friday and 80 a.m. to noon on Saturday between Nov. 14-25, at Mobil 1 Lube Express/Modern Tire Pros, 1402 S. Jeffers. Students from the St. Patrick’s music department will kick off the event by providing live musical entertainment from 8-9 a.m. on November 13th.
Participating customers are asked to present a coupon to make their oil change eligible for the $30 donation. Coupons are available at the NPCS Endowment Office, 601 S. Tabor, McDaid or St. Patrick’s School offices, NebraskaLand National Bank-main bank location, or on the North Platte Catholic Schools Facebook page.
