Four students from the Fauquier schools’ automotive technology program placed in the SkillsUSA Auto Services Contest last month.
The team of Liberty High senior Justin Bean and Fauquier High senior Waddell Bourgeouis placed first in the competition at the Virginia State Fair on Sept. 26.
The team of FHS junior Luis Bendek and FHS senior Cody Heyl placed fourth.
Contestants demonstrated skills outlined by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence and the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation.
During the competition, each team conducted state inspections, fixed brakes, used a scan tool, did electrical testing and analysis and measurements.
Twenty-seven teams of two from around Virginia competed.
Scott Freeman teaches automotive technology at Fauquier High, which has one of the nation’s top-ranked programs.
