8:20 am. A fire in a tire shop in northwest Oklahoma City on Wednesday night was caused by an employee, a fire official said Thursday.
The employee had been using a torch in the back of the building and set some paper on fire, said fire Battalion Chief Benny Fulkerson.
The employee stomped out the fire and left the area thinking it was completely extinguished. Upon returning, the fire had grown to the point that he could not extinguish it. The estimated loss of structure and contents combined is $40,000. No injuries were reported.
4:40 a.m. Firefighters battled a blaze at Firestone Complete Auto Care, 7575 N May Ave. in northwest Oklahoma City Wednesday night, reports fire Battalion Chief Benny Fulkerson.
About 9:45 p.m. firefighters arrived and found tires and oil on fire inside the shop. The fire was extinguished in about 15 minutes. No one was injured.
Firefighters have not determined the cause of the fire.
