Aug. 19, 2022—Jiffy Lube of Indiana is commissioning artists to create murals at some of its locations.
According to NWI Times, Jiffy Lube of Indiana has partnered with the Arts Council of Indianapolis since 2016. Together, they have hired artists to create murals on the outside of multiple Jiffy Lube locations.
Jiffy Lube plans to commission another six murals this year, which will bring Indiana's total to 30 of these murals throughout the state.
In Merrillville, Jiffy Lube General Manager Aaron Newell told NWI Times that he is excited about the mural at his Jiffy Lube, located on 5920 Broadway. It is called "United and Divided" by Johnathan Alejandro Arce and is currently in progress.
Arce is a graduate of Merrillville High School, and he is grateful for this Jiffy Lube project, as it allows him to bring a mural that is inspired by the topic of migration to life.
"It's an amazing opportunity," Arce said to NWI Times. "I am grateful and thankful I was chosen for this project. It's an important time for artists in the area and the entire state."
