July 20, 2022—Hot outdoor temperatures in North Dakota are leading to broken air conditioning units for drivers.
According to KFYR TV, Bismarck Tire Center in Bismarck, North Dakota, has seen this damage firsthand.
”With the hot weather, the air conditioning parts are starting to fail, and we’ve been staying quite busy with it,” said Eric Hoffman, service manager at Bismarck Tire Center, in the article.
The shop may be busy with these repairs, but the fix can be costly, especially when customers have other things they'd rather put the money towards.
KFYR TV spoke with a woman named Nicole Schumaker, who has had her AC fixed twice before. She is saving to take her family to Disneyland, and believes that her money may be better spent in the vacation fund.
”Two hundred and fifty dollars goes a lot further at Disneyland than $250 on an air conditioning unit that’s already been fixed twice,” she said in the article.
Hoffman has advised customers to keep condensers clean in their vehicles to avoid ACs needing to run at higher temperatures, which can cause damage.
