April 1, 2022—Lawmakers in Maine are debating a potential increase in vehicle inspection fees.
The Bangor Daily News reports that a bill could raise the fees by double to cover the costs of updating the state system.
State lawmakers have annual discussions about whether or not to exempt certain vehicles from inspections, change the inspection process, or do away with inspections altogether.
