Feb. 22, 2022—A radio station in the Albany, N.Y., area has a recurring segment called the "Social Dilemma," which is a kind of advice story.
One recent dilemma, shared by News10, involves a driver who said she took her vehicle into a shop to get an oil change. When they came to pick it up, the driver said she saw the shop owner drive off in her car.
"The gentleman that came to help me when I said I was there to pick up my car said, 'Oh it’s all done, but the owner just took it and he’ll be back in 10 to 15 minutes,” according to the woman's account.
The story doesn't mention what kind of shop the driver went to, but most quick lubes don't have a drop-off-and-leave service process. And oil change services typically don't require a test drive.
