Nov. 8, 2021—Unemployment numbers continued to fall last week, dropping by 14,000 and hitting another pandemic low.
Claims fell to 269,000, less than a third of the 900,000 claims the federal government saw to start the year, according to a report from the Associated Press. The four-week average of claims also fell to 285,000, continuing a trend of downward momentum as the economy continues to recover.
The economy has recovered around 17 million of the jobs it lost to the pandemic, though it's still about 5 million short from where it was in February 2020. Economists estimate employers added around 400,000 jobs last month.
