Oct. 21, 2021—A Connecticut quick lube is celebrating nearly 40 years in business and the completion of a fairly extensive remodel.

Southington Auto Wash and Quick Lube in Southington, Conn., about 17 miles southwest of Hartford, was started by current owner Steve Krawczyk in 1982 with his father according to the Bristol Press. Over the past 40 years, the shop has offered full wash and quick lube services, and Krawczyk says he's felt as though it's become an integral part of the community.

“I like to think of my business a little like the local bar in that people feel at home here,” he said. “When you come to us, you’re not just a number. I was recently talking to my son about how it was kind of funny how, when we first opened, people came to us with their kids. Now, those kids have grown up and some of them come to us with kids of their own.”

The shop is currently remodeling with a new roof, plumbing and electrical system. When the renovations are complete in late November, Krawczyk says he plans to have a ribbon-cutting ceremony with discounted car washes and other offers to celebrate.
