Big Brand Tires Purchases Plaza Tire Locations

Feb. 21, 2023

After Plaza Tire sold its business to Big Brand Tires, its four locations changed their names, causing their respective communities to wonder what happened to the business.

Feb. 21, 2023–Plaza Tire, a store with four locations in California, has had to work to assure customers that their service is the same after selling the business to Big Brand Tires, the Union reports.

Plaza Tire had four locations in California: Nevada City, Grass Valley, Penn Valley, and Colfax. After Big Brand Tires purchased the business this past November, the four stores changed their names, causing their respective communities to wonder what happened.

“The biggest misconception is that people were feeling that (Big Brand) took over and there were all kinds of rumors flying around,” said Cecelia Hill, manager of the Penn Valley location. “A lot of people come in and just look to make sure we are still here.”

Managers across the locations assure customers that the only thing that has changed is the name–nearly all the same people still work there.

“All the staff is the same; everyone stayed on but we’ve lost one mechanic,” said Chris Lancaster, the manager of the Nevada City location. “We still offer all the same services, the same people working here, just the name has changed.”

Lancaster notes that one other thing that has changed is the business now has access to “better deals on tires,” allowing them to price match, whereas before they couldn’t.
