Feb. 14, 2023–An Oscar Mayer Wienermobile making appearances for Super Bowl weekend had its catalytic converter stolen in Las Vegas, 8 News Now reports.

The 27-foot-long vehicle was parked in the parking lot of Sonesta Suites at 4034 Paradise Road this past Thursday night when the part was stolen from it.

The “Wienermobile crew,” Corn Dog Clara and “Chad”dar Cheese, went out Friday morning to leave for an event and realized something was wrong when the vehicle wouldn’t start. They had the Wienermobile towed to Penske Truck Rental, located at West Hacienda Avenue.

“A hot dog truck, no way,” was the reaction of the shop’s parts administrator, Joseph Rodriguez. “Imagine like a huge hot dog in the middle of your bay. There’s all these other trucks and you got to work on this,” he said.

Technicians used a catalytic converter on hand that happened to fit the vehicle for a temporary repair until new parts come in, which will take one to two months according to Rodriguez.

The Wienermobile is only another addition to the growing list of catalytic converter thefts in the Las Vegas area, which Rodriguez described as “a huge problem” that has “been going on for a couple years now.”
