March 3, 2023–Pete’s Tower Service and Auto Lube, a shop located in Superior, Wisconsin, was recently sold and is currently being remodeled into an Auto Ace Express Lube and Service Center, the Superior Telegram reports.
Pete’s Quick Lube was originally owned by brothers Tim and Tom Cosgrove, and will now be owned by Alan and Gina Amatuzio, making this their second Ace Express location. The first one is in Duluth, Minnesota, on Kenwood Avenue.
The shop was first opened in 1972 by the brothers’ stepfather, Martin Peterson. When Peterson passed away in 1980, Tim and Tom took over the business.
Changes to the business following the sale will include several interior upgrades and a switch from Pennzoil to Amsoil.
Popoe, who lives in the nearby town of Wentworth, approached the brothers with interest in the shop about a year ago. He has 22 years of experience in the oil change industry and will act as the store’s general manager.
Tom said that he and his brother wanted to “hand the business over to somebody with experience and a local person.”
“It’s something we’re confident about,” Tim said. “We didn’t want it to just go to anybody. It’s in good hands, that’s the way we feel.”
