Inflation Raises Vehicle Maintenance Costs
Dee Coleman owns Coleman and Son Automotive, a shop in Little Rock, Arkansas. He said he has seen how inflation has resulted in higher service costs in his business, THV11 reports.
Coleman and Son have been in business for over 30 years. In that time, Coleman said he’s seen the price of maintenance service increase. When it comes to things such as oil changes and tires, the cost has especially gone up recently.
“The most common thing people gripe about is the cost of oil changes, due to the fact you must get those done more periodically. 10% to 20% increase, especially on your synthetic oils,” Coleman stated. “Your tires on your vehicle cost more than they did last year or the year before.”
Not only is the customer paying more, but the shops are having to pay more for supplies due to inflation.
“Just the price of parts period, we've seen an increase in price the parts, the normal water pumps and maintenance belts like that,” Coleman said.
Coleman advised to not hold off on maintenance as it will only grow more expensive as time passes.
“Anything that you put off can cost you more in the future. So go ahead and get that maintenance done on that vehicle,” he remarked.
