Auto shops in North Texas have been seeing an increase in customers due to more vehicle problems being caused by intense summer heat, NBC DFW reports.
SpeeDee Oil Change and Auto Service in Arlington, Texas has been incredibly busy as of late as a result of these heat-induced damages, according to store manager Colton Duty.
These damages typically include air conditioning compressors failing, radiators cracking and leaking, and batteries going bad. Tire pressure has also been something that has caused problems for some drivers as temperatures outside reach triple digits.
Duty warns drivers to be cautious of things they wouldn’t typically think of in the heat, such as windshield wipers, which can become stuck to the windshield in extreme heat. In these cases, they become almost glued to the glass and will break when the driver attempts to use them again.
Strange occurrences when a vehicle is not in acceleration can also often indicate problems, such as unfamiliar smells, smoke, or steam coming from the vehicle when stopped at a light. Duty cautions drivers that if the air conditioning fails to emit cool air when the vehicle is not accelerating, it could indicate problems with the radiator fan.
