Construction on a Take 5 Oil Change and Car Wash in Papillion, Nebraska has been delayed for years, but may finally be seeing progress, Omaha World-Herald reports.
A sign advertising a new Take 5 location was first placed years ago in the northeast corner of the Shadow Lake Towne Center shopping mall, between a Texas Roadhouse and Buffalo Wild Wings, but the advertised store has yet to arrive.
According to a representative of the mall, the delay is a result of construction complications during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Though the City of Papillion granted permits to Take 5 in January 2022 to build a combined car wash and oil change facility at the 11611 S. 73rd St. location by the mall, plans have since changed a bit.
At the City Council’s February 21, 2023 meeting, a special use permit was granted for the oil change segment to be built separately at 1419 Papillion Drive, next to a Starbucks located nearby the mall.
According to a representative with VantEdge Auto T5 Real Estate LLC, precautions are being taken to ensure the shop’s traffic does not interfere with vehicles entering Starbucks.
