Chapel Hill Tire of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, has made another donation to a local high school to support students in automotive studies, according to a press release.
After an initial donation to Chapel Hill High School's automotive program, another one has been made to the school’s racing program.
The $10,000 donation will be used to purchase a second race car to work on and race with, allowing more students to come out to the race track on weekends and allowing them more opportunities to learn.
The racing program explores areas of motorsports such as rules, safety, pit stops, suspension and weight setup, spotting, utilizing geometry to measure tires, weight distribution, drafting, physics, work ethics, and teamwork.
Some students of the school’s program have already gone on to continue a career path in motorsports, such as Isaiah Allen, a current student in the program and Chapel Hill Tire team member, who has been accepted into the NASCAR Technical Institute.
“We really appreciate all the support that Marc (Marc Pons, Chapel Hill Tire President) and his team have given to our program, and we could not do it without the help of our awesome industry partners like Chapel Hill Tire!” said Automotive Instructor Robert Ballard.
