Maine Right to Repair Legislation Passes Vote

A right-to-repair bill in Maine was overwhelmingly approved by voters.

A right-to-repair bill in Maine was overwhelmingly approved by voters this week, according to a news release.

The Vehicle Data Access Requirement Initiative passed in Maine with 84% approval from voters.

Auto Care Association President and CEO Bill Hanvey recognized the results as a reflection of the traction right-to-repair legislation is gaining across the country.

“The right to repair is one of a few unifying issues our nation faces, and whether we achieve repair access chamber by chamber or state by state, I am confident that every American will soon have the fundamental right to repair what belongs to them,” said Hanvey. “Right to repair isn’t going away and this victory demonstrates that it’s an issue that needs to be resolved.”
