Orangeburg, New York Road Closure Creates Trouble for Quick Lube Shop

    Many customers, confused about how to access the shop located along the closed road, have opted to simply go somewhere else out of frustration.

    Orangeburg, New York’s Route 303 has been closed for the replacement of a sewer main, cutting off driving access to several local businesses such as Our Town Car Wash & Quick Lube, News 12 New Jersey reports.

    Route 303 between Erie Street and Orangeburg Road has been closed since this past Friday as crews got to work, but it’s left businesses in the area as well as drivers stuck between a rock and a hard place.

    “They blocked the other side, too... We're missing customers,” said Baldemar Nolasco, an employee at Our Town Car Wash & Quick Lube.

    Drivers that News 12 spoke with told reporters that the closures and detours had been frustrating for them as well. Though there were signs posted around the closure that said drivers visiting a business on Route 303 were permitted to go, there are still many who have opted to go elsewhere, as Nolasco noted.

    Nolasco, along with an employee of a nearby restaurant, has been standing outside near an intersection to flag down customers and help them figure out the confusion until crews have finished up.
