The oil leak coming in contact with hot engine components creates the risk of an engine fire while driving.

A problem in certain Kia vehicles causing an oil leak has led to a recall of over 36,000 cars, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

A total of 36,248 vehicles are estimated to be impacted by the recall, which covers certain 2019-2020 K900s and 2018-2023 Stingers equipped with 3.3-liter turbo gasoline direct injection engines.

The issue stems from the left turbocharger oil feed pipe and hose assembly, which is prone to deteriorating and leaking oil. In this event, the oil leak coming in contact with hot engine components creates the risk of an engine fire while driving.

Kia’s resolution will be for dealers to replace the left turbocharger oil feed pipe and hose assembly. Owners of affected vehicles will begin receiving notifications on April 26, 2024.
