Toyota has officially launched production of its first ever all-hybrid Camry lineup, reports 88.9 WEKU Public Radio.
Production for the 2025 Camry is set to begin at Toyota’s facility in Georgetown, Kentucky, with the first vehicle having come off the assembly line last Wednesday.
The entire Camry lineup will be all hybrid, which is a first for the automaker. Toyota has invested over one billion dollars into the Kentucky plant for plans to develop electric vehicles, including an electric SUV.
Being Toyota’s second-oldest plant, since first opening in 1988 the Georgetown facility has assembled more than 11 million vehicles. According to Governor Andy Beshear, the commitment to continue there with hybrid and EV production signals plans to keep production in Kentucky.
“This continued investment and transition towards electrification provides assurance that the company hasn't just been a major part of the last 40 years, but will be a major part of the coming 40 years,” Gov. Beshear said.
