Involuntary Movement in Hyundai Genesis Coupes Leads to over 12k Recalled
Aug. 7, 2024
Kelley Blue Book reports Hyundai has recalled 12,612 vehicles due to an issue that can cause involuntary movement.
The recall applies to model years 2010-2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupes with manual transmissions.
Specifically, the problem lies with a broken return spring causing the ignition lock switch to remain on. This can lead to vehicle startup even when the clutch petal is not engaged. In this event, the car provides no warning to alert drivers of the problem.
To remedy the defect, Hyundai will have its dealers replace the ignition lock switch on recalled vehicles.
