Kwik Kar Oil & Lube in Uvalde, Texas, Targeted by Bomb Threat Phone Call
Chaos struck a Kwik Kar in Uvalde, Texas, after receiving an anonymous bomb threat, reports Uvalde Leader News.
The incident took place on May 14, when a store manager received a call around 1:15 p.m., from a number marked as a spam risk. The caller mumbled incoherently before saying, “a bomb has been placed.”
By 1:20 p.m., the store manager called the Uvalde Police Department, which responded at 1:26 p.m. Ten officers arrived on scene, alongside nine firefighters and Uvalde EMS personnel. Customers and employees were evacuated from the store around 1:30 p.m., with nearby businesses also being evacuated around 1:40.
Most personnel were gone by 1:45, with UVFD leaving at 1:56. After searching the building, the area was cleared at 1:58 p.m.
When UPD assistant chief Mike Davis contacted the San Antonio Police Department Fusion Center to see if the same call was made to anyone else in the area, he was told the Kwik Kar was the only one targeted.
