Plans for Take 5 Oil Change in Shreveport, Louisiana, Come to Screeching Halt

June 9, 2025
Locals in Shreveport, Louisiana, oppose the new Take 5 Oil Change store due to traffic and access worries. The project faces delays as the Planning Commission reconsiders.

Plans for a new Take 5 Oil Change in Shreveport, Louisiana, have hit a hard stop due to concerns raised by locals, reports KTBS 3 News.

The new store would be located on the busy intersection of East Flournoy Lucas Road and Ellerbe Road in southeast Shreveport.

When the Shreveport Metropolitan Planning Commission first saw the plans, they approved the development, with several conditions in place. However, the project was appealed, requiring it to be reviewed again.

Concerns over the proposed store include how it may impact traffic, and whether it can be legally accessed from the road.

On May 29, the Planning Commission voted to delay issuing a special use permit for the project to allow the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development to survey the site. In July, the Planning Commission will hear public comment on the proposed store.
