Costa Oil – 10 Minute Oil Change will soon be opening a new location in Reed City, Michigan, as shared in a recent press release.
Located at 846 S Chestnut St, the store is slated to open in early September, and marks the brand’s 70th total location. Two other new stores are also scheduled to open in September, in Marion, Iowa, and San Antonio, Texas.
A grand opening ceremony for the location will be held September 5 to 6, with the first 10 vehicles on Friday receiving free oil changes, and all other oil changes being 50% off both days.
This expansion comes after CEO Costa Kapothanasis announced in March that all corporate-owned stores would be reducing the price of full synthetic oil changes to $50 (base price), and would cease to offer synthetic blend or conventional oil. The company’s full synthetic oil of choice has been Chevron's Havoline ProDS Full Synthetic 5W-30.
The findings of NOLN’s 2025 Operator Survey Report were cited to support this decision, which found that 73% of bulk oil used by quick lubes is full synthetic or premium full synthetic, with synthetic blend making up less than 25% and conventional oil just 7%.
“The quick lube industry needs to get back to its roots: fast, affordable, reliable service,” said Kapothanasis. “That's why Costa Oil is expanding while others are struggling. We're not chasing short-term gains from inflating average ticket prices or bolting on services. We're building long-term loyalty with consistent service, fair pricing, and respect for our customers.”
