Vermont Quick Lube Business Sells Brand, Property to Valvoline
A quick lube brand of nearly two decades in Brattleboro, Vermont, has sold its brand and property to Valvoline, reports the Brattleboro Reformer.
Before it opened as Stop & Go in 2007, the shop at 817 Putney Road was known as ASAP Lube. Michael Lacroix took ownership of the property, and when the existing tenant moved out, he kept the remaining equipment and started Stop & Go.
Michael Lacroix died in 2021, and his daughter, Elise Lacroix, was the only family member left at the shop, working as an operations manager. Selling the Stop & Go brand and property to Valvoline has alleviated stress on her, having had to work six to seven days a week and 12-hour days. She now plans to help her sister in real estate and to help run Brattleboro Portable Storage.
“It's just a very stressful industry to be in,” she said. “I didn't necessarily want to do it coming out of college but I was good at it.”
Elise Lacroix said she was unsure if the shop’s vehicle inspection services would continue at the shop, which she expects will undergo a rebranding. A site plan for a new Valvoline building on the property was already approved by the Brattleboro Development Review Board in December.
“Over the last 18 years, we have had the honor of serving our local community,” posted Stop & Go on social media. “With your help, we've grown past what our original intentions were in 2007. For that, we are deeply grateful.”
