A Midas franchisee in Tupelo, Mississippi, helped donate a car to a veteran in need, as shared in a recent press release.

A 45-year-old combat veteran, Tech Sgt. Eric Faris served two tours in Iraq with the U.S. Air Force’s 238th Air Support Operations Squadron. He now has a 20-year-old son with his wife, and works with the Air National Guard in Memphis, Tennessee, where he commutes over two hours each way. Faris is also a member of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, and spends his free time helping other veterans through projects like building wheelchair ramps, repairing homes, and raising funds for those in need.

Faris has faced challenges with transportation, as his current vehicle has more than 350,000 miles and is beyond repair. Jason Weatherford, Midas of Tupelo owner and CEO of Midasautomotive.com, heard about Faris’ story, and partnered with NAPA Auto Parts and 1-800-Cars to refurbish a reliable vehicle for him.

A refurbished 2015 Mazda CX-9 was donated to Faris on Nov. 20, at Midas of Tupelo’s store located at 3936 N Gloster St. A part of the Midas Project Spark program, the donation marks Weatherford’s third annual giveaway.

“It’s an honor through Project Spark to hand the keys of this SUV to a veteran who has given so much for our country,” said Weatherford. “This is more than transportation; it’s a symbol of gratitude, independence, and hope. As a franchise owner, I’m proud to stand with our team and community in making sure those who served are supported when they need it most.”
