The Midas Project Spark program has provided a parent in need with reliable transportation, as recently shared in a press release.

Shanell Salley is a mother of eight children, ages 2 to 18, living in North Brunswick, New Jersey. In 2025, Salley’s partner—the father of her youngest child—was lost to violence, followed just days later by the passing of her mother. Soon after, her best friend also died, leaving her without the support system she depended on and pushing her family into homelessness.

With support from Lunchbreak Family Promise of Monmouth County, Salley is getting back on her feet. Transportation, however, has remained her biggest barrier. After her car broke down years ago, she has relied on walking, Uber, and public transit to get to work and care for her family.

When Brian Beers and Collin Hamel of the Prenlyn Auto Group—which owns the North Brunswick Midas—learned about Salley’s story, they stepped in to help. With parts donated by Advance Auto Parts and support from Lunchbreak Family Promise, the Midas team donated their time to restore a Chrysler 200 for Salley.

The vehicle was presented to Salley last Tuesday, just in time for Christmas. Salley will receive continued guidance from Lunchbreak Family Promise, including help with auto insurance and registration.
