Hyundai Recalls Over Half a Million Palisade SUVs for Airbag Defect

The recall affects Palisade models across several years after safety tests revealed that third-row airbags could pose a risk.
Feb. 4, 2026

Hyundai has issued a recall for 568,576 Palisade SUVs over defective airbags, according to Car and Driver.

Included in the recall are 2020 to 2025 Palisade vehicles—the same category that was impacted by a recall involving seatbelts last September.

During routine compliance tests, NHTSA found that a safety dummy in the third row within a 2025 Palisade was exceeding the movement limit. Upon notifying Hyundai and further tests, the automaker and NHTSA determined the third-row side-curtain airbags to be defective.

A solution for the issue has not yet been released, though Hyundai will notify impacted owners once a repair is decided. Any owners who have incurred out-of-pocket expenses to resolve the issue may be reimbursed by Hyundai.
