Plans for a new Take 5 Oil Change in Homosassa, Florida, have come to a halt following concerns from local officials, reports Citrus County Chronicle.

The 1,316-square-foot store proposed for 9318 U.S. 19 would be located within the county’s Coastal High Hazard Area, making it susceptible to storm surge and hurricane flooding.

Developers have sought alterations to the plan, including narrower lot widths than normally permitted and a drive-through layout without a bypass lane. Currently, plans for the store outline two drive-up service bays and a stormwater retention pond, connected to an existing pond at the neighboring store. The plans would also lead to an existing flood compensation pond being removed, meaning any lost flood storage capacity will need to be made up elsewhere.

The Citrus County Planning and Development Commission expressed concern over the store’s placement within a Coastal High Hazard Area, as well as how oil would be contained.

The Commission voted unanimously for a continuance, enabling a representative with Take 5 to return in the future with additional officials to address their concerns.
