Midas Franchise Supports Single Parent with Vehicle Donation in Texas
A Midas franchisee in Arlington, Texas, donated a vehicle this week to a local single parent in need, as shared recently with NOLN.
At just 26 years old, Kintalee Mims is a determined mother of two who has been rebuilding her life after falling on hard times. After connecting with The Women’s Center through a Life Skills presentation at Safe Haven in Arlington in June 2025, Mims enrolled in an information session and completed the intensive Jobs Now Workshop. Within six weeks, she secured employment with VIA in Arlington and moved from transitional housing into her own apartment.
Despite this progress, Mims continued to face transportation challenges, relying on costly Uber rides to commute to work and manage childcare, making even routine tasks difficult and expensive.
Lisa Vaugh, a female Midas franchisee, and her manager learned of the situation, and wanted to help. With support from Advance Auto Parts supplying the parts, Midas of Arlington purchased a Chevy Traverse and donated the labor to ensure it was mechanically sound and reliable. On March 18, the refurbished vehicle was donated to Mims, as part of Midas's Project Spark initiative.
With this donation being led by women during Women’s History Month, Midas made a note to recognize the contributions women are making to the auto service industry, and their communities as whole.
“When we heard Kintalee’s story, we knew we wanted to help,” said Vaughn. “Her determination to build a better life for her children truly embodies the resilience we celebrate during Women’s History Month.”
