Major Recall Affects Jeep Grand Cherokee Models Due to Airbag Defect

Jeep is recalling more than 400,000 vehicles due to a defect in the Occupant Restraint Controller that could impair airbag deployment timing.

Over 400,000 Jeep vehicles are being recalled due to a defect with the airbag, according to a report from WKRC-TV.

Included in the recall are 2022-2026 Jeep Grand Cherokees and 2023-2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee Ls.

As shared by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the defect lies with the vehicles’ Occupant Restraint Controller, and can cause the airbag to deploy slower than normal.

The issue will be repaired via a free software update. Vehicle owners will be notified June 11 through June 19.
