Local Shop Raises Money for Schools

Sept. 27, 2019

The fundraiser came through in a big way and brought thousands of dollars to the local Catholic schools.

September 27, 2019—The North Platte Catholic Schools Endowment and North Platte Public Schools Foundation are benefiting from the work of their local Mobil 1 Lube Express-Modern Tire shop.

The North Platte Telegraph reports that the fundraising effort brought in $3,930 for the schools systems in the Nebraska town. The shop held events on two days that contributed $30 from every oil change toward the schools. Owner Gary Jones told the paper that they did 131 oil changes over both days, which is a great car count for a fundraiser.

The Telegraph said that it's the ninth year for this fundraiser. The portion of the money going to the local public schools foundation will benefit its "Prepared to Learn" program, while the Catholic schools will use its portion to help the elementary math curriculum.
