AOCA’s 2015 International Fast Lube Expo recently wrapped up. I was disappointed I was unable to attend this year because I was recovering from knee replacement surgery. Trust me, I would have rather been in Orlando! However, we sent the team, and Eli, Tammy, Sheila and Geri brought back a great report.

They said the educational sessions they attended were very informative. Some of their favorites were “Making Your Customers Love You By Giving Stellar Customer Service,” “Increase Profit 30 Percent in 30 Days” and “Canister Oil Filters – Common Issues and Problems.” Plus, our very own Ragan Holt had a great discussion with now-AOCA vice president David Haney on whether “To Service or Not to Service.”

A new AOCA president was elected — Len Minco, operator of two Kwik Kar shops in Texas— and there were some interesting changes voted on and passed during the annual membership meeting. There were also about 87 vendors at the tradeshow, which gave attendees a great opportunity to see what products and services are new and trending in the industry.

These are just a few highlights, but we will have a full iFLEX recap coming up in the May issue.

This month’s carwash issue shows that oil and water truly can mix. We have a great profile on a new car care empire, as well as the carwash/fast lube survey breakdown and a few other carwash-related articles. Don’t forget, The Carwash Show is also happening this month — April 23-26 in Las Vegas.
