August 6, 2021—For the second year in a row, auto fans won't be able to attend the New York Auto Show due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Organizers announced on Wednesday they were calling off the show, which was scheduled to run from Aug. 20 through Aug. 29, because of "the growing incidences of the COVID-19 delta variant and the increased measures announced recently by state and local officials to stop its spread," according to the Detroit Free Press.

Show officials said in a news release that the outlook for the show had changed drastically over the span of just a few weeks, citing the rapidly evolving Delta variant of the virus as one of the main factors in the cancellation.
