Lexus, Kia Rank as Most Dependable Manufacturers

J.D. Power's 2023 Vehicle Dependability Study has found that Lexus and Kia have made the most dependable vehicles, judging by the first three years of new vehicle ownership.

Feb. 13, 2023–J.D. Power has determined from their 2023 Vehicle Dependability Study that Kia and Lexus have made some of the most dependable cars recently, Kelley Blue Book reports.

The study, which examines the first three years of new car ownership, found that Lexus created the most reliable luxury vehicles, while Kia had the most reliable vehicles at “mainstream prices.”

Kia ranked as the top choice for the third time in a row, and Lexus reclaimed its leadership over Genesis, who knocked the manufacturer from first place last year.

Overall, Lexus ranked as the most reliable manufacturer, with 133 problems per 100 vehicles. Kia was in overall third place, with 152 problems per 100 vehicles, with Genesis separating the two in second place, having 144 complaints per 100 vehicles.

As for vehicle models, Kia’s Forte ranked best compact car and the Optima ranked best midsize car. The Kia Sportage ranked best Compact SUV.

Lexus came out on top as the best compact premium SUV with the Lexus NX, with their RX model ranking best midsize premium SUV as well.
