The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced a recall of 1.2 million Ford and Lincoln vehicles due to potentially faulty front brake hoses, WCVB reports.

The recall notice lists 2013-2018 Ford Fusions and 2013-2018 Lincoln MKZs as affected models. The front brake hoses of the vehicles are liable to “rupture and leak brake fluid.”

“A brake fluid leak will increase brake pedal travel and extend the distance needed to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash,” the NHTSA stated.

The brake hoses were first implemented into the vehicles in 2012 before being pulled from production in 2017.

Ford dealers will repair any affected vehicles free of charge. The manufacturer will send owners letters with more information by April 17.
