STLE has launched a ‘Women in Tribology’ publication sharing insights from women in the industry, along with a panel planned for its upcoming meeting.

The Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers (STLE) has launched a ‘Women in Tribology’ publication and panel, according to a recent press release.

The free publication will share insight from 10 senior-level women with over 25 years of experience in the field, including their professional journeys, the highs and lows of their careers, and balancing work and personal life.

In addition, the 2024 STLE Annual Meeting & Exhibition, taking place May 19-23, at the Minneapolis Convention Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, will feature the Women in Tribology Panel.

The May 21 panel will be moderated by Elaine Hepley of Solana Consulting Services LLC, and will center around sharing advice and career path options for women in the industry. Panelists will include Jennifer Altstadt of Sea-Land Chemical Company, Dr. Qian (Beth) Zou of Oakland University, and Dr.-Ing. Mirjam Bäse of Magna Powertrain GmbH.

Following presentations by opening speakers, an interactive discussion will be had on recruiting more women into tribology and lubrication engineering and how to help them advance their careers.

“The authors of our first women-focused publication have made significant contributions to the field of tribology, advancing the understanding of friction, wear and lubrication in various contexts,” said STLE Executive Director Rebecca Lintow, CAE. “STLE is thrilled to capture their life’s work and experiences in a format that will benefit future generations of women interested in tribology and lubrication engineering.”
