Valvoline Store in Charlotte, North Carolina, Finally Approved Despite Opposition

The proposed Valvoline Instant Oil Change in Charlotte faced community pushback due to existing auto service providers, but recent policy adjustments allowed the project to proceed.

Plans for a Valvoline Instant Oil CHange in Charlotte, North Carolina, are finally moving forward despite opposition from locals, reports WSOC-TV.

The proposed store located off Plaza Midwood near Matheson Avenue was originally proposed in 2024, but met backlash from residents of the area, who argued that there’s an excessive number of auto service providers in the area already. The proposed spot has seen many new businesses and restaurants crop up in recent years.

However, the plans were finally able to move forward due to a change in city policy that took effect in June 2024, removing the conditional rezoning requirement for vehicle repair facilities that the Valvoline would be considered under.

Plans for the store received approval from the city’s land development review team as of June 27, and the company has already broken ground on the new site.
