Ford Reports Bronco Child Lock Faults

June 28, 2022

Ford plans on sending out recall letters in late July 2022 for over 50,000 Bronco vehicles.

June 28, 2022—Ford filed a report this month that revealed faulty child locks on four-door Bronco vehicles.

According to the Detroit Free Press, the report stated that 53,103 four-door Broncos could be affected. A letter was sent to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Ford dealers.

The child safety lock in the back seat on the passenger side of these vehicles may show that the lock is locked when it is not. This could allow children to open the door while inside the vehicle.

Vehicles affected by this phenomena were said to have been built between September 23, 2020, and April 11, 2022. There is a stop order in place for dealers with pending orders.

According to Ford, the first of these faulty locks were found during a quality audit in March 2022 at the automaker's Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, Michigan. Ford is not aware of deaths or injuries as a result of the locks. Recall letters will be sent out to drivers on July 25, 2022.
