Officers responding to a report of a burglary Thursday morning at a Romig Road brake and lube shop nabbed two suspected thieves driving away from the scene, Akron police said.
Tylan J. Braziel, 31, and Jeffery L. Gardner, 47, are facing charges of breaking and entering and possession of criminal tools.
According to police, the arrest unfolded like this: Officers responded to Lifetime Brake and Lube in the 2100 block of Romig Road just after 2 a.m. after someone reported seeing two people breaking into the back of the building.
As officers arrived, they saw a 2002 GMC Envoy speeding through the parking lot.
The officers stopped the car and found the driver, Braziel, had a suspended license. When officers searched the vehicle, they said they found two acetylene torches — which can be used to slice through metal doors — a dolly and a car tire inside.
Police didn’t say what, if anything, was missing from the brake and lube shop.
