Phillips 66 Lubricants recently introduced Shield Euro-Tech and Shield Euro-Tech+, two new premium-quality, full-synthetic passenger car motor oils blended in America and designed to protect the sophisticated engineering of European vehicles. The new oils meet or exceed the specifications of major European vehicle manufacturers, including BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen and Porsche.

The new Phillips 66 Shield Euro-Tech product line will allow U.S. quick lube installers to service 90 percent of the European automotive vehicles in and out of warranty.

The full-synthetic formulations feature benefits such as better oxidation resistance and thermal stability at high temperatures for improved protection against viscosity breakdown and deposit formulation, lower volatility for reduced oil consumption and better low-temperature pumpability for easier starting and faster oil circulation at low temperatures.

Shield Euro-Tech is a full-SAPS engine oil, recommended for use in many gasoline engines. It is approved for service fill under leading European OEM specifications as well as BMW LL-01, Mercedes-Benz MB-Approval 229.5, Volkswagen VW 502.00/505.00 and Porsche A40 (5W-40 viscosity).

Shield Euro-Tech+ motor oil is a low-SAPS engine oil, designed for modern diesel engines. It is approved for service fill under leading European OEM specifications for extended drain applications as well as BMW LL-04, Mercedes-Benz MB-Approval 229.51, Volkswagen VW 504.00/507.00 and Porsche C30.

Mahle Service Solutions recently introduced the new ArcticPRO ACX1250 air conditioning (A/C) service unit that economically services R1234yf vehicles.

The ACX1250 is designed to increase technician productivity with its fully-automatic program to recover, vacuum, leak test and charge without command for ease of operation. An external refrigerant identifier minimizes costly refrigerant cross contamination risks. The ACX1250 is designed to recover more than 95 percent of automobile A/C system refrigerant. Fast, Easy Way to Crystal Clear Lenses

Meeting VW

German oil and additive specialist LIQUI MOLY recently launched a new motor oil, which fulfills the latest Volkswagen requirements: Top Tec 6200. It represents a generational leap in motor oil technology.

The oil was developed for the Euro 6 emissions standard. This means it is less viscous than conventional oils. The lower the viscosity of the oil, the lower its inner resistance in the motor.

Top Tec 6200 fulfills the VW approvals 508.00/509.00. As a 0W-20 grade, it is a low-viscosity oil. The new Top Tec oil is not backwards compatible. The oil is too low viscosity for non-VW 508.00/509.00 motors: the lubricating film is consequently very thin and a high level of motor wear can occur. In order to minimize the risk of mix up, the new oil has a different design compared to the other oils of the LIQUI MOLY Top Tec series. Also, it does not feature the 4000 numbering as previously all Top Tec oils have, but it is the first with 6000 numbering.
