The Big Three

Labor, product costs, and extended service intervals are, by a wide margin, the most common issues challenging quick lube operators.

In the 2025 NOLN Operator Survey, respondents were asked about the biggest challenges facing their operation. Responses included market saturation (reported by 11.8% of survey participants), shop upkeep (10.3%), and the electrification of vehicles (10.3%).

Three challenges, however, remain far above the rest:

  • 55.9% - Hiring/availability of labor
  • 32.4% - Cost of products
  • 22.1% - Extended service intervals
