How much time have your lube technicians spent under the hood?
In the 2024 NOLN Operator Survey, we asked industry professionals how many hours their techs are working per week, as well as how long they’ve been employed by the shop. Survey respondents’ answers tell us that a tenure between 1 and 3 years is most common, and that nearly all techs are working at least 35 hours per week.
Here is a breakdown of operators told us:

35 to 40 hours – 45%
At least 40 hours – 51%
Average Lube Tech Tenure
Up to 6 months – 6%
6 months to 1 year – 4%
1 to 3 years – 42%
3 to 5 years – 22%
5 to 10 years – 15%
At least 10 years – 11%
