Honeywell's Solstice yf UV Refrigerant Gets Aftermarket Release

This is the first time that the Solstice yf (R-1234yf) refrigerant with UV dye will be made available to the the aftermarket.

Aug, 23, 2022—Honeywell's Solstice yf UV is now available at NAPA Auto Parts stores across the country. 

According to a press release, this is the first time that the Solstice yf (R-1234yf) refrigerant with UV dye will be made available to the the aftermarket. Solstice is a low-global-warming-potential refrigerant for automobile air conditioning systems. 

The UV dye in the product allows for better leak detection, and the UV dye in the product is the same dye used on car assembly lines. Honeywell's Solstice yf UV is manufactured in the United States. 

"As the first manufacturer to offer low-GWP R-1234yf with UV dye to the automotive industry, Honeywell is dedicated to supporting our end-user customers in their environmental transformations while helping them reduce costs and improve customer satisfaction scores," said Ken West, president of Honeywell Advanced Materials via the press release. "With NAPA Auto Parts as our retail launch partner, we are expanding our reach to support customers across the United States, strengthening our commitment to supplying the automotive aftermarket with ready-now solutions that have lower greenhouse gas emissions without sacrificing product performance."

According to the press release, the R-1234yf refrigerant will be in nearly 200 million cars globally by the end of 2022, and in over 95% of new vehicles sold across the United States.
