May 6, 2022—Volvo has announced that its entire 2023 United States vehicle lineup will be mild hybrid, plug-in hybrid, or electric.
According to Green Car Reports, this is a step forward in Volvo's plan to be entirely electric by 2030 and carbon-neutral by 2040.
Currently, Volvo sells two electric models in the United States: the XC40 Recharge (an electric version of their XC40), and the C40 Recharge.
Volvo also has an XC90 Recharge plug-in hybrid currently available, as well as plug-in hybrid versions of their XC60 SUV, S60 and S90 sedans and V60 wagon.
The auto maker also has a fully electric version of the XC90 on the way, and plans to have it made in the United States.
In 2023, all of their new vehicles will fall into one of the above categories.
