Volkswagen Recalls 35K Vehicles

Over 35,000 Volkswagen vehicles have been recalled by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration due to the doors unexpectedly opening.

Over 35,000 Volkswagen vehicles have been recalled by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration due to the doors unexpectedly opening, WFTV reports.

The recall will apply to certain 2021 through 2022 ID.4 vehicles. According to the NHTSA, they are equipped with door handles that allow water to enter a circuit board assembly.

This defect can result in doors opening while the vehicle is experiencing “high lateral forces at speeds below 9 mph.”

Owners of affected vehicles can expect to receive a letter from Volkswagen sometime in late June. To remedy the problem, dealers will update the vehicle’s software as well as inspect the door handles, free of charge.
