Anovion Technologies, a supplier of graphite for electric batteries, has announced that it will invest $800 million into a factory located in Bainbridge, Georgia, Alabama Public Radio reports.

Anovion Technologies is based in Chicago and was created last year when two companies, Pyrotek and Amsted Graphite Materials, merged together. They have a factory in Sanborn, New York, and Clarksburg, West Virginia, and recently announced plans to construct a facility near Muscle Shoals, Alabama.

The Georgia factory, located in the southwest region of the state, will employ 400 workers and is expected to begin production on synthetic graphite anode in 2025. According to Georgia officials, this is one of more than 40 EV-related projects initiated in the state since 2020.

“We are looking forward to providing solutions that will further secure the country's electrified future with the support of our partners in Georgia and the federal government,” said Anovion CEO Eric Stopk in a statement.
