Arizona Heat Fuels Business for Phoenix Shops

Extreme Arizona heat is keeping repair shops in Phoenix busy as drivers experience more issues.

Extreme Arizona heat is keeping repair shops in Phoenix busy, KJZZ reports.

Dave Martin operates a Phoenix shop that services cars and trucks. Martin has worked there for 50 years and said that the “last couple weeks have been brutal.”

With the heat in Arizona being so extreme, vehicles can experience more problems. Local drivers have come in for dead batteries, broken air conditioners, and overheated engines. According to Martin, business has been up 50% compared to cooler times of the year.

Martin has warned drivers to regularly check the status of their vehicle batteries and tire pressure during the hot summer months. Many have also been coming in to take preventative measures with their vehicles before embarking on summer road trips.

Though Martin and his team are supplied with a large garage of swamp coolers that keeps them out of direct sunlight, the heat is impossible to escape, with humid days being even worse.

“I buy a bunch of Gatorade, you know, electrolytes just to keep the guys hydrated, buy some sunflowers seeds to get some salt in them,” Martin said. “We just drink a lot of water, a lot of Gatorade and really just try to tough it out.”
